📊 Impact: Self-serve analytics for Finance, Operations, and Leadership

Problem

As Tech Goes Home scaled its programs, leadership, operations, and program teams needed clear, reliable, and timely visibility into learner outcomes, enrollment trends, course performance, and operational metrics. However, data was spread across multiple systems, making reporting manual, slow, and inconsistent. Reporting relied heavily on manual exports and static spreadsheets. Metrics definitions varied across teams, causing inconsistent interpretation. Leadership lacked a single source of truth for key KPIs.

My Role

I owned the analytics workflow end-to-end, including identifying high-impact metrics with stakeholders, designing data models optimized for Tableau consumption, building interactive and scalable dashboards, ensuring metric consistency and data quality, and iterating dashboards based on real stakeholder feedback. I functioned as both the analytics engineer and internal consultant, translating business questions into analytical solutions.

Solution

Engineered multiple Tableau dashboards that transformed raw operational and survey data into decision-ready insights. Data sources included Salesforce (enrollment, learner progress, program data), survey platforms (pre-course, post-course, annual surveys), and operational datasets related to devices and program logistics. Designed stakeholder-driven metrics by working backward from real decisions teams needed to make, avoiding vanity metrics in favor of actionable KPIs.

Architecture

Dashboard capabilities include time-series analysis for enrollment and completion trends, cross-filtering by course, cohort, location, and demographics, KPI tracking for learner progress, engagement, and outcomes, drill-down views enabling root-cause analysis, and executive-level summaries paired with operational detail. Designed dashboards to accommodate growing data volumes with consistent metric definitions across views, enabling self-service reporting and reducing dependency on analysts.

Results

  • Enabled leadership to make faster, data-backed decisions
  • Reduced time spent on ad-hoc reporting
  • Improved visibility into learner outcomes and program performance
  • Created shared analytical language across teams
  • Established Tableau as trusted decision-support layer
